Connection blocked because of a virus

A device on your connection is behaving as if infected, for example by sending spam. That is why the connection was blocked.

What happened

A device on your connection has been flagged, for example because it is sending spam or behaving as if infected with a virus or trojan. Such malware can also record keyboard input, including passwords.

Why we block

An infected device puts other people on the network at risk, so we block the connection until the cause is fixed.

How to fix it

  1. Disconnect the device

Disconnect the affected device until you've checked it.

  2. Run a virus scan

Update your antivirus software and run a full system scan.

  3. Update your system and software

Install all pending updates for your operating system, browser, and browser plugins.

  4. Turn on your firewall

Check that your operating system's firewall is switched on.

How to unblock it

Once the cause is fixed, you can unblock your connection again.
