Additional information regarding wifi problems
Whether network issues are basically caused by adjacent wifi networks can be checked by disabling the wifi on your router and connecting the computer by a suitable network cable (Cat 5e FTP or better) to the router. If the connection is stable, the connection problems are likely caused by too many overlapping wifi networks nearby.

You can check your wifi environment with diagnostic tools (e.g. Netstumbler/iStumbler). Depending on the number of existing wifi networks you can decide if other neighbouring wifi networks may disturb your connection. Check out which channels (2.4 and 5 GHz) are in use:
